Visit the Deep Ocean

Join us for a life-changing submarine adventure that supports breakthrough scientific research and marine conservation.

See the Ocean as Few Others Have

Honu submersibles are the ultimate experience for seeing the magic of the ocean as well as for world-class scientific research. Our adventures begin by exploring spectacular coral reefs where scuba divers visit. Then, we will go deeper than most humans have ever gone, down to nearly 4,000 feet (1,200m) below the surface. Undersea exploration will inspire in you a greater sense of wonder and forever change your perspective of life on Earth.

Mission: Deepen Humanity’s Connection with the Ocean

We believe that we must visit the deep ocean and learn more about it if we are going to steward it properly. On this mission, we are guided by our indigenous partners who consider the ocean as an ancestor and a sacred place of creation and sustenance for all of humanity.

Designed by ocean legends

Sylvia Earle, oceanographer and National Geographic Explorer, has spent a lifetime in submersibles. With Honu, she and the team at DOER Marine have translated her unparalleled experience into the ultimate platform for world-class scientific research and epic sightseeing.

Enter the Twilight Zone

Aboard the Honu submersibles, we can visit the Mesopelagic Zone, an otherworldly part of the ocean from 200m to 1,000m deep, where light dwindles and then disappears. This layer of the ocean is teeming with life forms that create their own light using bioluminescence.

It is estimated that the Mesopelagic hosts 95% of the fish biomass in the ocean, as well as the plankton they feed on and their predators (squid, tuna, sharks, and marine mammals). All of these animals move from the depths during the day to the surface at night to feed, and then back to the depths at daybreak in the largest migration on the planet. As they do this they move carbon from the surface waters and deposit it in the deep ocean, sequestering by some estimates the same amount of carbon that is produced by humans each year.

Dives begin in 2025

We invite you to be amongst the first to dive with us in beautiful French Polynesia aboard our Honu submersibles. Adventures begin in late 2025 and will fill up quickly, so we encourage you to hold your place in line. No deposit is required at this time.
