Designed by ocean legends

Honu submersibles were custom-designed and built by DOER Marine and Sylvia Earle, legendary ocean scientist and advocate.

DOER has a prestigious history of submersible design, construction, and operations. Their perfect safety record has enabled countless successful dives launched from luxury yachts and world-class scientific research vessels.

    • Two submersibles for tandem dives

    • Manned submersibles: 3 persons (2 passengers and 1 pilot)

    • Hull inside diameter of 190cm / 74.8 inches

    • GVW of 9 metric tons

    • Fully certified as dual class submersibles (research and passengers) by recognized classification society DNV

    • Operational depth rating: 1200m

    • 8 hours mission time (96 hours reserve life support)

    • Capable of going fully silent on the bottom (thanks to passive air filtering solutions first approved and classed for use on submersibles by DOER on a 10-person system)

    • Can dive both during the day and at night (vastly opening opportunities to identify new species and to observe nocturnal animal behavior)

    • 4K filming capabilities

    • 2x 5 function manipulators with an array of samplers (cores, suction, bio box, sediments)

    • Water sensors (CTD, oxygen, pH, turbidity)

    • Sound recording (hydrophone with 10Hz to 200kHz frequency range)

    • Lasers for video measurements

    • Sonar for collision avoidance and mapping

    • 4x Film lights and 2x operational lights and 4 additional light channels available

    • USBL with integrated navigation

    • Modem

    • VHF radio

    • Underwater communications system

    • Surface beacons, strobe & RF

  • o Serial RS-232, RS-485, CAN

    o Ethernet 10, 100, 1000

    o 5V, 12V, 24V, 48V voltages

    o 150W, 200W and 600W available wattages

    o Custom interfaces available

“Every time I slip into the ocean,
it's like going home.
